You look at your profile and:
-People are not following you back
-Your blog is not getting any hits or comments
-Your bored with your current blog theme
-You post something on Twitter or Facebook and get no responses.
Change your Strategy!
People aren’t following you back: Go and follow some different people. Do a search on keywords that interest you #fitness #smallbiz #custserv #art and follow friends with similar interest. Get involved in the chats that they have. I am currently involved in #blogchat, #latism, and #fitness chats and I meet new people every week! Sneaky Peak at your friends followers and follow them! I do this a lot because it confirms real people not bots!
Your blog is not getting hits or comments. Go comment on other blogs! I devote a lot of time to reading and commenting on blogs (I learn a lot this way). Try posting your blog on a different day! Tuesday 10 a.m. is supposed to be gold for posting a new blog according to #blogchat. Tweet or Facebook your post at different times in creative way, for example instead of repeating the blog title say “I would love to invite you to my blog”.
You’re bored with your current blog theme. Get a new one!! There are no rules or boundaries! Only the ones you set for yourself and your work. Try guest posting to get out of your element. Invite a friend to guest post on your blog! Take a break. If you are the only writer for your blog a break is your best deal. I struggled during the summer to post valuable content because I was busy and having fun. I took a break. If your income depends on your blog try doing more research on your theme and find ways to make it fun. I am always on google, testing blog titles and searching for blog content. I also visit the library once a week with my kids and always search for new material there!
You post something on Twitter or Facebook and get no responses. Post something new. Retweet, Retweet, Retweet! Post what you think is funny or a great business tip. Give it another chance. Ask questions to engage your friends. If comments and responses are what you are after start a “GiveAway” on your blog where people have to leave comments! This is a great way to drive traffic to your blog. You set the boundaries here also and remember that Social Media takes time.
Social Media is not for you! It is for everyone! Social Media is about engaging with real people the rest will happen on its own. If you are selling a product, promoting a brand, promoting your blog, just for fun the advice is the same: Engage, Engage, Engage.
P.s. Any other tips you would like to add? Are you having a fun Social Media experience?

I couldn’t agree more! Every so often, I get sick of the layout and sometimes it is nice to see something new on your site. Great advice!

Nice post Francis. I think it comes down to defining why you are using social media. Is it social, entertainment or business? Who do you want to connect with and why? Target your audience and or connect with people of common interests. I also recommend introducing people to your friends and followers. That generates a lot of good will.
Great post Francis! I mix my socializing up by combining a lot of business and a little bit of personalization. It’s important to me to connect with other people who are social. A follower that only posts links and has no interaction is not someone I will follow back. I like to connect with others and I have made some very great friendships. You, June and Todd happen to be 3 of my faves!
My social media experience is awesomesauce!
Thanks June. That means a lot! I am a fan of your site!
I like the introducing people to your friends and followers!! I need to do that more and I can see how that generates good will! Thanks Todd!
Lisa I know a lot of people that are selling on Twitter and I agree with you, I only follow if they are social. I get enough spam via email that I do not need it filling up my Twitter Stream! For those not socializing they are the ones missing out!
Great tips! And I would like to add also, don’t be afraid to get your feet wet: don’t be afraid to reply to some interesting tweet, don’t be afraid to retweet someone, don’t be afraid to comment on other blogs or start your own. Be kind to others and others will be kind to you, heck I think, unlike other forms of online presence where the anonimity + mass audience make people total morons, social media actually is like real life in terms of behavior, so just be yourself, you’ll do just fine trust me.

Great blog post — you are so right — social media is for everyone. Great advice.
Good post, I seem to be able to get people to respond to everything I say on twitter except for when I tweet about my blog. I am not complaining because I have a lot of friends and I will DM them and demand them to go leave a comment lol.
Very good post, Social Media is for everyone!

I felt the same way Dwayne until I started commenting on other blogs! I am truly a fan of so many bloggers including you, that I comment and Retweet on my favorite posts!! I subscribe to a lot of posts which has made it easy to keep up with all! What a lot of people forget is that Social Media takes time! Twitter takes time! CopyBlogger, one of the best, admitted he quit his first blog after the first year of not seeing it grow. Look at him now!
Rich you got the message!! Engage
Great advice Gabriele! I agree that being yourself makes social media such an easier platform to engage! Take a chance and you never know who might meet or end up laughing with!
Great post, I am just getting my feet wet with twitter/blog and your post is very encouraging to know I can do this
…Thank you!
I am HORRIBLE at RTing my posts. I’m happy to do it for others, but feel weird about doing it for myself. Gotta work on that. Thanks for the tips.

Wow. There’s all sorts of gold in this. I am just figuring out Twitter and I’m going to ReTweet more. How much is too much? Do people get upset when you over-tweet? I don’t know the rules, you see.
Also, that 10:00 AM nugget? I am going to try that right away! Thanks!
Thank you this gave me so much insight!
Hi Francis! What a GREAT post. Your tips are spot-on. And, I saw your Tweet inviting me to check out your blog and…me voila! I never thought to just outright invite folks to my blog — such a simple idea. Thanks for sharing it!
