I would have never believed this. I always viewed Michael Jordan as an ALL STAR without ever struggling! A Superstar blessed with immense talent that has earned his place in history as a legend in the NBA. Let me get started!
Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1963. Jordan’s family moved to North Carolina when he was a toddler. He grew up loving spots and played football, baseball and basketball. Jordan’s Sophomore year in High School he tries out for the Varsity Team and doesn’t make the team!! Michael Jordan made the Junior Varsity team. Michael Jordan was JV!!
Michael Jordan proved his worth and earned his way to the Varsity team the following year. Jordan didn’t give up or let his ego get the best of him. He worked! He practiced and was committed to show that he belonged on the team.
I viewed Michael Jordan as someone who didn’t have to struggle, he was just amazing. Thank you Debbie (Sister-in-Law) for introducing me to the path that Jordan had to take and how much harder he worked to become the Legend he is today!
I love Michael Jordan even more now! If my boys ever try out for sports in the future (I hope they do) and they don’t make Varsity…I will say it’s OK Michael Jordan was JV!
Practice, practice, practice and not walking away from the dream is the lesson I learned from Michael Jordan’s journey.
The coach that made Michael Jordan JV is probably ‘a little’ responsible for developing a strong drive and perseverance in Jordan. Who is ‘a little’ responsible in your life for driving you into becoming who you are today?
P.S. If you think I am dork for not knowing this….you can let me know!! LOL

The ONLY reason I know this….my ex husband was a high school basketball coach. LOL. Sometimes NO is an answer and it is the right answer. I bet it taught him humility, patience, and work ethic. Amazing story.
Have you seen Blindsided? Now that is amazing story of commitment, love, perseverance, and love, blind love.
Great post.
Yes I saw BlindSide and it was a great movie!! I am amazed by the power of our dreams and goals!
My “help” in life came during my first semester in ASU after the USN. An academic advisor told me college wasn’t for everyone! A Bachelors Degree later I’m sure I proved him wrong! Thanks for always adding to my blog!
I have read some very bad press about Jordan lately, in regards to his gambling, womanizing, and influence on Tiger Woods. I was very disillusioned. Heroes are hard to come by, and often fall off their pedestals. Do you think it is because we expect too much of them?
lov it
