“How would you like to be the first woman to fly across the Atlantic?”
A phone call of a lifetime! A time to make history! A moment to live your dream! Amelia Earhart got that phone call and responded by being the First Woman to fly across the Atlantic. She did it! Earhart was welcomed back with Congratulations from the President!
What few people knew was that Earhart had only been the passenger on the flight! She was getting ALL the attention and all the headlines but she had just sat through that flight. Earhart took to the challenge of flying the Atlantic herself in 1932! She didn’t have to! She was all ready recognized as being the “First Woman” to fly the Atlantic 5 years earlier.
Amelia Earhart took to the challenge of completing the task herself. Flying and receiving the intense training to achieve her goal! She did it! Even after Earhart had started her career in success! She made history!
Amelia Earhart died a legend pursuing her dream of flying! She took the driver’s seat of her dreams and followed her passion! She showed that being a passenger is not enough!
The joy and the success that we feel after having accomplished a goal is priceless! Where are you today…are you in the passenger seat cruising through life or are you taking charge of your life and goals in the driver’s seat?

P.S. I feel I am in the Driver’s Seat now! I always thought my accomplishments would be measured in a paycheck but life is more than that! Life for me has become finding a joy in my everyday life with the people I love the most..my family

What a great thing to think about today, “taking the driver’s seat in your life!” I follow a woman on Twitter and she does just that. She is “technically” a senior citizen (in number, not attitude or lifestyle) and she travels the world as a single woman. She has become my inspiration, my hero. I see myself doing that one day. Great post, as always. Now get out there and drive, drive, drive you lovely heart to your destiny!
Hugs, Lisa
Francis,
Thanks for this cool post about Earhart.
Are you kidding about her not actually “flying” the plane?
If it’s true, I’m astounded!

What a wonderful post by a wonderful woman! You have always inspired me, from the moment we met in the cyber world. Its only fitting that you would base this inspiring blog post on another woman of great caliber! I love the question you have placed before us today…passenger or driver? Time to take the wheel!
Thanks again Francis.
What a great story… I can add a personal connection to Amelia Earhart my Grandmother actually met her… Don’t know how or where but I remember her telling me this with pride when I was a smalll child. Something like that really sticks in your memory .

Mom told me about this story when i was a teen , & it stays in my mind till today , my mother has a very special way to educate us she is giving us famous example in life to take it in consideration in our future life !
my mother is the first lady in my country who encouraged ladies to practice the musical art ! she is an example for all ladies in my place and others & i feel proud of her when people stoping us in the street to have her signature
i like to be something important in that life like those gorgeous ladies in the history so that my kids will be proud of them special mother even without doubt all mothers are special in a way or an other !
you are wonderful in your writings Francis
They had a documentary on her not too long ago. It was really interesting. Apparently, she liked to wear pants (which was uncommon) and had an eclectic group of friends. This lady clearly was an innovator. It is really nice to be reminded of the people that have walked before us and cleared the path ahead. Thanks for such a nice post about a very courageous woman!
Great post Francis about a great woman! Thanks for reminding me to live my passion & live life to the fullest. You never know when the trip will end! Thank you for the inspiration!
